Lab & Storefront Policies

Lab Use Policy Reminders:

Equipment in the RDC Fabrication Labs may only be used by RDC Lab Access Members and students enrolled in certain academic courses during our hours of operation under lab staff supervision.  All lab use must be supervised by lab staff. Student lab use outside of our RDC-lab-staff-supervised operating hours is NOT permitted.

Lab users must complete the required online training, make any relevant equipment reservations, and sign-in and check-out with lab staff on duty at the front desk of our Prototype Lab (RDC room 123) to use RDC Fabrication Lab equipment.  The RDC occasionally hosts staff-supervised tours, special events, and workshops during which approved guests are permitted to enter the labs.  All visitors must check in with staff, sign in/out, and submit any required waivers related to officially approved guest activities. For more details, please review our official lab policy document in the Lab Orientation module of the COM-HS-RDC-FabricationLabs Canvas Page.

RDC Online Store Policies – Terms of Sales::

  1. All sales are final. We thank you for understanding that all sales are final. Due to our limited resources, we’re unable to process refunds. Thank you for supporting our department as we continue to grow!
  2. Purchasing by CSU Departments: CSU departments should use internal bills/orders through the university's Kuali Financial System (KFS). Department purchases by P-card are not permitted to be made through this online store. Please contact us if you have questions regarding the KFS purchasing process.
  3. Customer-Input Totals for Lab Member Overages & Fee-for-Service RDC Invoices:
Pricing on Unpaid Receipts & RDC Invoices: Before completing your purchase, lab staff will provide you with official RDC Invoices for Fee-for-Service projects (e.g. bills for custom design and fabrication services provided by RDC staff) and Unpaid Receipts for Lab Member Overages (e.g. material reimbursement fees). These invoices will include identification numbers and the total amounts owed.
Entering Information: Customers are required to enter the provided price points and related invoice/receipt numbers during checkout. This ensures accurate processing of your payment and aligns with the official amounts specified by our lab staff.
  4. Pickup Requirements: All purchased items must be picked up in person at our facility. We do not currently offer delivery services.
  5. Fundraising Merchandise Purchases:  Fundraising merchandise must be purchased by coordinating with lab staff in person or via email at rdcbuildlabs@colostate.edu to verify stock availability and allow for better communication regarding custom items or special requests. Please note that select items are only available for sale during specific promotional events as indicated on their product pages.
  6. Sales Tax Notice: Please be advised that sales tax may appear as “tax exempt” on individual line items in our online store. This is because the appropriate county, city, and state sales tax has already been incorporated into the total for materials included in Lab Member Overage Fees, RDC Invoices, and fundraising merchandise products when applicable. The final amount due, along with all applicable taxes, will be detailed on the receipt issued by our RDC fabrication lab staff.
